Organisation’s vision:

The Centre for the Ocean and the Arctic works towards sustainable value creation from the ocean. We put the ocean on the agenda, and contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We also facilitate partnerships for building sustainable blue business.

Organisation’s mission:

The Centre for the Ocean and the Arctic is appointed by the Norwegian Government to compile, analyse and communicate knowledge about the blue economy. Our ambition is to contribute to greater value creation and sustainable development of existing and novel blue business. Our foundation rests on sectoral neutrality, holistic thinking and cooperation.

Our chief task is to create a solid knowledge base for decision-makers, businesses, and the Norwegian people. This will enable us to leverage the growth potential of ocean-based enterprise, identify bottlenecks, and create synergies. Through reliable knowledge, partnerships, and open social discourse, we will find the solutions of the future.

The Centre for the Ocean and the Arctic is subsidiary under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, and is managed by Nofima.
